Bombogensis is a meteorological euphemism for "explosive cyclogenesis," which describes a rapidly intensifying, midlatitude weather pattern. Most commonly a maritime and wintertime event that's also latitude dependent, bombogensis is caused by a deepening extratropical cyclonic low-pressure area, resulting in massive, often "explosive" storms marked by strengthening winds, high precipitation rates, and even thundersnow. In the context of the SCA's Theatre MainStage production, however, Bombogensis is also a musical. This is a newly devised work of musical theatre that blusters and blows equally across the hilly topography of Austria, Hollywood, and the Lower Mainland.
